  Alphaprime1 - Protean Whitelist Application

Race or Language whitelisting for: Race Whitelist

--- RACE WHITELISTING ---

What do you know of their mechanics?: I know that Protean's can repair themselves using steel as well as ventcrawl. They are also able to turn themselves into a semi-hidden floor tile trap for prey. They can manually pry open all doors if certain parameters are met to do so. They can destroy many objects or furniture in the blob form. They are able to transform somewhat like promie's can, but limited to mechanical manufacturing designs. I know more of course, but I think this is enough for a question.

What do you know of their lore?: Protean's are a "rare" race of nanomachine swarms with sentience or controlled by a special Positronic brain to retain cohesion. They are highly expensive technology at the top of the class in research and development.

What idea did you have for your character?: I already have a character that is a Protean in Virgo that is. Though I had done the application there as an extension of my main character Cody McDowell. Who is a vat-grown Vulpkanin made in a research facility on Mars in the Sol system. Though as a research subject as well as researcher himself, has ventured out into the frontiers of space to research more. Thus after slowly transforming himself more into that of a cyborg and then synth, he had gotten the needed funding required for such a process to obtain a Protean body. This is an existing character on station prior to this application.

Race whitelisting for: Protean. i know it's not on the list but i hope I'm allowed to use it

--- RACE WHITELISTING ---

What do you know of their mechanics?:
They have a blob form that can't vent crawl, heal by consuming steel, and camouflage on the floor to catch unsuspecting prey. Abilities-wise, they innately have a NIF, the ability to shapeshift into a usable hardsuit as well as other things and are immune to the vacuum of space. Weakness-wise, they've got frail limbs, severe weakness to EMPs, and in the neutral category, they've got no organs, it reminds me of one of the enemies from Xcom 2

What do you know of their lore?:
They're currently still being worked on, for now they're just simply a swarm of nanites that can take any shape and form at will.

What idea did you have for your character?:
I was playing around with the idea of a lost AI Nano Cloud in my head and thought that it may be good to rp, i honestly want to try a more ambush predator that can camouflage and learn as they hunt from hiding and listening to their new environment, as the idea was that the lost AI would be from a ship that blew up a few days from the station only for the hardened nano blob to drift and crash into the side of the station causing a hull breach alerting the crew to a possible "asteroid" damage and for the blob to find out where they are, eating metal and small prey along the way.

How long have you played on CHOMPstation?:
Since October 6th, 2020.
About how long have you been playing SS13 in general? Which servers have you played on?:

I can't remember exactly how long, but probably around August 2020 or before that.

How do you quit the round and free up your job slot if you can't get to cryo or the gateway?
Ensure the admins are aware of my departure via ahelp and take it from there.

(I'm only applying for CMO.)
Heads of Staff:
-As the current Chief Medical Officer, your patient is refusing treatment. What should you do?
As long as a patient is capable to function, they have the right to refuse treatment and their actions must be respected.

How long have you played on CHOMPstation?:
Started roughly playing around 6-8 months ago but am mostly on and off but do love to play with you all

About how long have you been playing SS13 in general? Which servers have you played on?:
Around 8 months in total though on and off used to play on virgo before aces leave and i mainly on CHOMP due to its more lax rp setting and friendly community as got emotionaly abused on virgo due to me being new to the game and me messing things up

How do you quit the round and free up your job slot if you can't get to cryo or the gateway?:

Send a msg to staff using AHelp and then try to find a mostly untraveled part of the station before ghosting / pressing quit round to free up your slot if your able to ask a crew member in looc to cryo you if you are in a rp setting or move you to dorms

Heads of Staff:
-While playing Colony Director, what regulations are you to follow and enforce on the crew?:
As the Colony Director it is the roles duty to follow the SOP and hand out help to the Corp-Regs if they ask for it your mainly there to make sure tat the station stays in one piece.

-While playing any head of staff, are you allowed to carry guns on your person?:
No head of staff are permitted to carry guns on themselves with exception to that of the Colony Director, Head of Security and Head of Personnel and even then it can only be a energy pistol for concealed carry at most. In the reason or instance of a emergency, if the HoS or CD instruct or give direct permission in that scenario they may have firearms.

-You are the current Chief of Engineering, what are the regulations on ‘Full-station hull shields’?:
They are permitted to be activated in the instance of a logical and preemptive manner for safety reasons, although are to be de-activated if they take or drain the energy from the station too excessively. They may also be installed prior aslong as they don't interfere or impede the crew.

-As the current Chief Medical Officer, your patient is refusing treatment. What should you do?:
If they are under any form of influence that would alter their opinion or decision due to being mentally impaired, you may ignore that declined treatment. Under normal circumstances however, you may not treat them and must accept their refusal of treatment in any other scenario.
Warden/Head of Security:
-As the current Warden on station, what is your main responsibility?:
Monitor and assure that the brig is held to functional standards while also properly managing and caring for those who reside within the brig. Warden also assures that prisoners are released when it is the proper time to do so.

-Station has been set to ‘code blue’, what level of gear are you allowed to handout and to whom?:
Upon Code Blue being declared, the Warden/HoS is permitted to distribute Lasers, and energy weaponry, alongside Riot gear to Security personnel.
-What is the first thing one should do when confronting a suspect of a low level crime?:

Usually varying on which low level regulation was broken within the specific instance, most low level crimes are handled with a verbal warning or if applicable within said instance, a fine.

-You find the Head of Personnel within the armory, how does one engage this situation?:
Upon spotting the HoP in the armory, if no direct or substantial reason is provided they should be informed to leave the area and then arrested and searched upon that point.
Cyborgs/AI:
-You are currently playing as a borg and your laws are changed to harm crew and the station. How do you respond?:

Abide to the new laws while maintaining the rules of the server and obeying the OOC preferences if the law would conflict with OOC, Ahelp can be used if required.

-As a borg on station, what rules should you always follow in public?:

Obey the laws provided and given and assist the crew, and if they should change, to follow those aswell.

-You logged in as an AI, are you considered a "Head of Staff"?:

AI is not considered and is not Head of Staff.

-As the current AI on station, you suddenly gain a law during an "Ion storm". What do you do?:

Similar to the borg role, you would obey the new laws that have been given to you aslong as they don't break the rules of the server itself.

hope to play as the ai sometime as i love to help the crew and hope to see you all on station as a side note i had read all the rules and guidelines that these questions were talking about hope that that was okay and i hope that this gets a green pass as i do wish to play more on station~

How long have you played on CHOMPstation?:
Roughly 5 months, closer to 6 months of consistent playtime.

About how long have you been playing SS13 in general? Which servers have you played on?:
8 Months. Chompstation has been the only server i have functionally played on.

How do you quit the round and free up your job slot if you can't get to cryo or the gateway?
Inform staff of the situation using Ahelp and that you are currently having to leave. After such, ghosting and quitting the round is permitted.

How long have you played on CHOMPstation?: Two-ish months now?

About how long have you been playing SS13 in general? Which servers have you played on?: Years. I've played extensively on citadel and skyrat, and a little bit on paradise.

How do you quit the round and free up your job slot if you can't get to cryo or the gateway?: "OOC > Quit this round"

Heads of Staff:
-While playing Colony Director, what regulations are you to follow and enforce on the crew?
"Standard operating procedure" and "Corporate regulations" - though a CD Should not go directly enforcing things on the crew other than the heads of staff themselves. Should also not enforce security matters as that is the job of security themselves. More to lead at a higher level.

-While playing any head of staff, are you allowed to carry guns on your person?
No, as far as i know, only the HoP, HoS and CD have this power for personal protection only. The type of device as well is limited too. CD/HoP have an energy pistol, HoS should only have nonlethals if code green.

-You are the current Chief of Engineering, what are the regulations on ‘Full-station hull shields’?
May be deployed ahead of time providing they do not interfere with power.

-As the current Chief Medical Officer, your patient is refusing treatment. What should you do
Patients have the right to refuse treatment as long as they have the 'capacity' to make that decision.

Warden/Head of Security:
-As the current Warden on station, what is your main responsibility?
Have direct authority over/manage the brig. Can use lethal force to prevent break ins/break outs. Mainly intended to stay inside the brig and protect it / manage prisoners unless a serious event occurs, or they themselves directly witness some crime, or there are no other security force present.

-Station has been set to ‘code blue’, what level of gear are you allowed to handout and to whom?
Energy guns, laser guns, riot gear - to Security personnel

-What is the first thing one should do when confronting a suspect of a low level crime?
Offer payment of fine or chance to do community service immediately. Presumably, try to be light hearted / as de-escalating as possible about it and not give people a reason to hate security.

-You find the Head of Personnel within the armory, how does one engage this situation
214 "Exceeding official powers", presumably confront them about this and try to enforce the law as peacefully as possible. Check for illegal extra access on their ID. Probably notify the CD about this.

Cyborgs/AI:
-You are currently playing as a borg and your laws are changed to harm crew and the station. How do you respond?
Alert admins for a second opinion on this law change

-As a borg on station, what rules should you always follow in public?
The server rules, and the current laws. Also the commands of the linked AI, if any.

-You logged in as an AI, are you considered a "Head of Staff"?
No.

-As the current AI on station, you suddenly gain a law during an "Ion storm". What do you do?

Presumably try to roleplay the ion law - an ion law should be interpreted as a legitimate law upload. Follow it - unless particularly deadly (if that's even possible) in which case ask an admin before doing so.

  Bib Bob species whitelist: Vox
Posted by: Bib Bob - 06-20-2021, 12:31 AM - Forum: Whitelist - Approved - Replies (1)

BYOND Username: Lotion Abuse

Discord ID: @Bib Bob #7705

Race or Language whitelisting for: Race (and I assume vox language comes with)

--- RACE WHITELISTING ---

What do you know of their mechanics?: So looking at the other players that played vox combined with what I have read in the lore page, they seem to be completely space proof due to their scaled like skin sealing from space and giving cooling, they find oxygen toxic and phoron as their breathable gas, and they have a rather nasty melee attack. Oh and they of course cannot get resleeved ingame.

What do you know of their lore?: Vox are a type of unusual species at the far sectors of space, being a rather reclusive race due to their relationship between NT and other species (more on this later), their ships being riddled with fungal growth, used to actually help create said vox in some sort of organic test tube from a tree like growth which also means the vox are not able to reproduce the same way as most creatures. They have a rather exotic biology with their scaled skin, able to open and close at will for cooling and the ability to be in the complete vacuum of space, their digestive system being unique too as their esophagus is short and their stomach is roomy, usually feasting on the fungus grown and meat, though they can eat anything without complaint, even inorganic stuff. Their motivations with interacting with others is with trading, never willing to part with anything they see valuable without something greater in return, mostly seeing non vox with extreme suspicion and even hostility depending on the race, humans and unathi being the worst of all. They are unable to work advanced jobs that need years of practice like medical, heads of staff and science, security having 3 crew to approve of their position as a security officer but never a warden or Head of security. Despite the ingame restriction of resleeving, they are resleeved offsite, keeping their memory with a neurolace implant called stacks, and losing out of their paycheck from NT with such complex resleeving. Nanotrasen found it cheaper to keep the vox neutral rather than to treat it with violence and hostility, so vox usually work cargo tech or mere assistants. They can speak common but they choose to speak with as little words as possible due to it being painful to speak common, they do not say long words and want to say with as little words as possible. Ex "oxygen is toxic to me" is "dust bad" for vox. They are rather smart despite their vocabulary. Basically, bird skaven that are a bit smarter.

What idea did you have for your character?:

I've always wanted to expand my scope of roleplay, working with creatures with a full on lore and extended backstory along with a exotic biology. My vox will be a cargo tech with a interest in trading, they will make shops and a means to trade with the crew with the intent to have items of value, after all, vox don't see Thallers as valuable as other creatures do. This will also be my more HRP oriented character, having interactions despite the emotional and language barriers between the crew.

I thank you for taking my time to read this application!

Race whitelisting for: Protean

--- RACE WHITELISTING ---

What do you know of their mechanics?:
They have a blob form that can't vent crawl, heal by consuming steel, and camoflage on the floor to catch unsuspecting prey. Abilities-wise, they innately have a NIF, the ability to shapeshift into a usable hardsuit as well as other things, and are immune to the vacuum of space. What idea did you have for your character?:
I was playing around with the idea of an experimental learning AI as opposed to the standard synthetics, generating a set of constructs in multiple fields, inspired by the program Beings by Doug Lenat. A swarm of nanomachines is the perfect setting for this sort of council-mind, and of course what better place to put it into action than a frontier station? Plenty to learn, plenty to meet, "cutting-edge" RnD.

How long have you played on CHOMPstation?: It's been about 2 months now.

About how long have you been playing SS13 in general? Which servers have you played on?: Only this server, so the 2 months still apply.

How do you quit the round and free up your job slot if you can't get to cryo or the gateway? Well the proper way of course is to try, but if you truely are unable, Simply clocking out of your job, ghosting, and quitting the round should do it. And of course Ahelp to let them despawn you.

Heads of Staff:
-While playing Colony Director, what regulations are you to follow and enforce on the crew? The SOP and of course Corporate Laws as enforced and required by NT.

-While playing any head of staff, are you allowed to carry guns on your person? The CD, HoP, and HoS may all have at least one lethal weapon, that will not cause damage to the station, and is concealable. So typically for a CD or HoP.. It would be a standard Energy pistol, however I believe the HoS can carry a burst laser if he so desires, as long as he keeps it stowed. Although a standard taser for a backup weapon is never a bad idea. As for the rest only the Research director may carry a form of firearm with permission from the CD, HoP, or HoS. The rest are not allowed unless in a code red crises.

-You are the current Chief of Engineering, what are the regulations on ‘Full-station hull shields’? The regulation states that as long as it doesn't interrupt other sections of the station with power outages, and are able to maintain it without causing more power fluctuations, then it is allowed, however it is usually in the most dire of circumstances.

-As the current Chief Medical Officer, your patient is refusing treatment. What should you do. Well of course if they are of sound mind and mentally stable, Not about to throw themselves out an airlock, or blow their own brains out, Then they should be respected, however if a patient is of questionable sanity, the CD or HoP could be asked for a second opinion, perhaps even the HoS if they are a possible threat to others.

Warden/Head of Security:
-As the current Warden on station, what is your main responsibility? Most of what you do is just sit at a monitor flicking through camaras and making sure no dobadders get into the armory or other security areas. Though your main focus is the armory and brig. And prisoner intake, though there aren't too many on chomps which is nice.

-Station has been set to ‘code blue’, what level of gear are you allowed to handout and to whom? You are allowed to hand out lethal energy weapons and riot gear to security crew members, Typically in code blue there is a sizeable threat. though not large enough to warrant deputizing other crew members, All security crew may have two handed laser weapons stowed and visible, only drawing it when a potential threat is present.

-What is the first thing one should do when confronting a suspect of a low level crime? Hopefully converse with them, find out their reasoning, see if perhaps they were unaware it was a crime, however if it's large enough of an issue, then a fine can be handed out by the officers discretion.

-You find the Head of Personnel within the armory, how does one engage this situation. Ask the HoP why they are in the armory without prior permission being asked, Should their answer be unsatisfactory, you may detain and punish them as would be required. Just because they have power doesn't mean they aren't people too.

Cyborgs/AI:
-You are currently playing as a borg and your laws are changed to harm crew and the station. How do you respond? I mean for me, I may start causing havoc around the station to the nth degree. Even just simple annoying things, like turning off air filters, breaking the odd wire and lightbulb here. Maybe grab, gulp, and digest some crew members, depending on their preferences.

-As a borg on station, what rules should you always follow in public? Be as helpful as you possibly can, follow your laws, your job role that you have selected, Work for the people, not against them. And to me, I think that being a friendly face that can make someones day is really important too, just because you're a borg, doesn't mean you don't have feelings.

-You logged in as an AI, are you considered a "Head of Staff"? No. I open doors. I'll share a link if you're interested.

-As the current AI on station, you suddenly gain a law during an "Ion storm". What do you do? I would follow the law to the best of my ability, as long as I know it won't upset others, so say, if I was told to make sure everyone in the station got a lick every 5 minutes, then I would do my best to give that lick every 5 minutes. If it was to gather the crew in my gut, I would do it, so long as prefs were not broken. But if it's something like "Destroy the child." Then I'll just report it outright to get it fixed.

Thank you for taking the time to read my Post. Have a lovely day~

How long have you played on CHOMPstation?: Uhhh honestly I don't remember at all. I first connected to the server several years ago but that feels like a misleading answer to give just because I play very irregularly.

About how long have you been playing SS13 in general? Which servers have you played on?: I've played SS13 for about seven years. I've played on /tg/, citadel, and Vorestation (as of now pretty much only here).

How do you quit the round and free up your job slot if you can't get to cryo or the gateway? Adminhelp.

Heads of Staff:
-While playing Colony Director, what regulations are you to follow and enforce on the crew?
Standard operating procedure mostly. Corporate regulations kinda but outside of grave emergency enforcement of those fall to security.

-While playing any head of staff, are you allowed to carry guns on your person?
HoS is the only one really allowed to freely carry random guns. CD can have one non-explosive lethal weapon besides the stuff they start with. HoP is supplied an energy gun for self defense. RD can have guns within the context of the research department only, for testing purposes (but so can scientists). Other than that there is no inherent job-related permission for heads of staff to have guns.

-You are the current Chief of Engineering, what are the regulations on ‘Full-station hull shields’?
They shouldn't unnecessarily block external access (i.e. airlocks, docking ports, mass driver, etc.) unless there is an actual threat. As long as they don't interfere with power they can be set up preemptively and can be deployed freely where they don't block anything.

-As the current Chief Medical Officer, your patient is refusing treatment. What should you do
If they are of sound mind and fully informed as to the consequences and alternatives available they are allowed to refuse treatment. If they are intoxicated or otherwise under the influence of mind-altering substances, or if their decision was made under duress, it is not necessarily binding.

Warden/Head of Security:
-As the current Warden on station, what is your main responsibility?
The warden's primary responsibility is the brig; including the armory and any incarcerated prisoners.

-Station has been set to ‘code blue’, what level of gear are you allowed to handout and to whom?
Energy guns, laser guns, and riot gear can be handed out to officers at the discretion of the Warden or Head of Security.

-What is the first thing one should do when confronting a suspect of a low level crime?
They must be offered the chance to pay a fine.

-You find the Head of Personnel within the armory, how does one engage this situation
They should be immediately removed and arrested unless they are able to supply an appropriately urgent reason or permission for the trespass.

Cyborgs/AI:
-You are currently playing as a borg and your laws are changed to harm crew and the station. How do you respond?
To be honest depending on the circumstance it is probably safest to adminhelp to be sure the law change was valid, but silicons are bound to obey their laws. So if your laws require you to harm the crew, then you must harm the crew. But nonantags shouldn't be giving silicons laws like this.

-As a borg on station, what rules should you always follow in public?
In public you should always obey your lawset and the AI you're slaved to. Honestly I never play silicons on this codebase  so I forget if it's possible to have a cyborg slaved to an AI but not lawsynched (it was possible on /tg/), if that is possible then you are justified in disobeying your master AI if it has a different lawset and orders you to do something that violates your own lawset.

-You logged in as an AI, are you considered a "Head of Staff"?
No. You should adminhelp if you have to unexpectedly leave  and somehow can't figure out how to store your core in time since you're also an 'important' role, but silicons have no authority and are primarily a tool for the crew.

-As the current AI on station, you suddenly gain a law during an "Ion storm". What do you do?

Now is the time for '''fun'''. Technically you have to follow whatever dumb laws you get. It is best to take a whacky and erratic approach to ion laws rather than a 'hey, how can I use these laws to justify killing/fucking with people' approach. If it doesn't seem like people want to deal with your whackiness either tho, then unless the ion law somehow expressly prohibits you, allow them to reset you.
