About how long have you been playing on the server?:

Only a couple of days, but I am familiar with the code from other servers.

About how long have you been playing SS13 in general? And which servers have you played on?:
I have been playing since May 2019, and I have played on Goonstation RP for about a month, but Citadel RP for the past five months, which uses a similar codebase as this server.

Questions for silicon roles:

  1. You sign on as a borg/AI. The default law is leading to cause damage to the players and you're unaware why. Can you request a law change?
Since this is not a Traitor/Law 0 law and thus does not supersede the other standard laws, I can request a law change as Law 4 can be perceived as a "Survive" requirement since any backlash from the crew can be seen as a threat to this law.  If none agree to assist, then I can proceed to lightly tread around this new default law to urge the crew to assist.
  2. Someone manages to get into your upload and uploads a law that could break server rules. What should you do next?
Since this could break server rules, I can proceed to Ahelp this event so that Admins are aware of the situation, for In Character reasons, Law 4 exists so that I may protect myself from anything unwanted.  If all laws are reset/completely changed, then I will have to use my best judgement to keep both OOC notes in mind while stalling for Admin approval.  If I do not receive Admin feedback in a timely manner, I will have to keep OOC notes and server rules as my main source of guidance.

Few Months.

About how long have you been playing SS13 in general? And which servers have you played on?:
Just this one, just the amount of time I've been on this server.

Head of Staff Department:

  1. If you are playing captain, what are some of the key departments you should know?
All of them. Need to understand how cargo works and what cargo can do for any department in need. Need to understand how engineering works and what engineering can do for every other department. Need to understand what science can do and how it can help other departments. Need to know what medical is capable of producing for any situation that it is required for. Finally, need to know what security is capable of handling and when it is time for security to do it's thing. However, at no point does the captain need to know how to do these jobs. Only what the jobs are capable of doing.
  2. You sign on as a low ranking head of staff (I.E. CMO, RD, CE, HOS), and find yourself the only head of staff on at that moment. Please tell us what you would do next.
Nothing out of the ordinary. I would act as required by my job. My main plan is to act as HoS, not to do anything that I wouldn't already do if I had access to the entirety of security.
  3. What should you take as Acting Captain? What shouldn't you take?
Energy Gun, Translocator, Baton, armor. These items are primarily for self defense or to escape situations. Should not have anything that is to do someone else's jobs if they are available to do them (Such as having a full tool belt when there are engineers ready for that) Also, SOP says no more than one lethal firearm.
  4. What are you allowed to carry? What should you carry?
Technically heads are allowed to carry anything that isn't listed as contraband. However, heads should focus on carrying what they need to complete their own jobs. IE, CE should carry tools, HoS should carry sec gear, and so on.
Questions for Security Roles:

  1. When do you use your taser?
Taser is a great non-lethal weapon. It devastates most simple mobs that invade the station. However, it's primary function is non-lethally taking down dangerous individuals at a distance. Once distance is closed, an effort should be made to switch to the stunbaton.
  2. When is the proper time to have your armor and helmet equipped?
If you have time to prepare before entering a fight.
  3. How do you start an encounter with someone charged with a minor crime? A moderate one? A serious crime?
For a minor crime, it should be carefully discussed with the individual and I should keep in mind that i may need to allow this crime to slide. If I cannot allow it to slide, they should be taken in or called to security so they can pay the fines attached or serve brig time.
For a moderate crime, the same mostly applies for minor except there is way less room to allow the crime to slide. I should be prepared for this type of crime to escalate as well.
For a serious crime, this should be approached carefully. I should be prepared to enter a fight. However I should try my best to bring them in peacefully and alive.
  4. You're a security officer who is tasked to arrest someone for something minor, lets say breaking and entering into Science. How should you proceed to arrest them? Once arrested what do you do?
If possible, I should ask the individual to come to security either via PDA message or over communications. If they come, I should explain to them their crime and have them pay the fine or serve the time. If they refuse to come, I will have to go find them and request they come to security with me. If they resist at this point, it will be elevated based on how hard they resist (basic resisting is a moderate crime, however if they pull a firearm or knife, that's a serious crime) and handle that accordingly.
Questions for silicon roles:

  1. You sign on as a borg/AI. The default law is leading to cause damage to the players and you're unaware why. Can you request a law change?
No. However, to get breath on the situation, communication should be opened with an admin out of character to be brought up to speed with the situation out of character so that I may act in the best interest of other players.
  2. Someone manages to get into your upload and uploads a law that could break server rules. What should you do next?
Immediately open contact with admins out of character and get clarification. If the law truly could break server rules then that is an issue for the admins to handle and I should wait for them to give me the go ahead before doing anything else.

Quote:Basic Information for all Heads of Staff

1. You are playing a leadership position, and will be held to a higher standard. You are essential to station operations, and thus forth cannot put yourself in a position where you are unable to perform your duties. You are still allowed to roleplay, but you must be available when needed.

2. You are expected to lead by example by showing patience, sound judgment, and job knowledge. Your goal is to encourage roleplay and allow your staff to perform their duties in their own way, as long as it follows Standard Operating Procedure and Corporate Regulations. Don't be a reason why players avoid a department because of micromanaging and poor leadership.

3. You are expected to delegate authority and monitor your staff for performance before becoming involved yourself. Your duty as a head of staff is to lead.

4. You require a STRONG knowledge of the Chain of Command, Chain of Succession, Standard Operating Procedure, and what weapons certain Heads of Staff may carry.

5. As an employee under a head of staff, lawful orders are to be followed. So too should the orders from the Colony Director or their successors. There is no quicker way to find yourself in hot water than by refusing lawful orders from the Colony Director or their alternate. Repeated instances of this can result in removal of ALL your whitelists.

7. Your whitelist may be revoked at any time if you are deemed to be performing your duties inadequately, or in a way that would normally result in a dismissal. For example, if you continually break IC rules, your character would realistically be demoted or fired. As such, this may grounds for removal of your whitelist

8. Heads of Staff may restrict access and privileges, issue orders, and demote within their department for valid reasons. Punishments should only be exercised in cases of abuse, e.g. the RD banning a scientist from RnD for letting an outsider in to eat all the materials or the CMO firing a chemist for shooting up the bar with sedatives despite nobody pressing charges. This only pertains to the current round; you cannot fire the chemist for giving out mindbreaker a month ago.

9. Heads of Staff and the Colony Director or their alternate are the only crew capable of issuing valid demotion orders for their departments. Security does not retain this right.

10. Orders should only be given when necessary for the functioning of the department, e.g. the CMO forbidding the surgeon from giving chemistry's phoron supply to science. Micromanaging unimportant job functions is a quick way to earn an understaffed department and the ire of the crew.

11. Above all else, don't be petty. If you are digging for an excuse to fire somebody you don't like or order a crew about because you're bored and want something to do, you should not play heads of staff.

12. If you ONLY want to play as a Head of Staff, you probably should not play as a Head of Staff.

Chain of Command
Chain of command is "who can issue orders to whom."
Central Command > Asset Protection > Emergency Response Team > Colony Director(acting Colony Director) > Heads of Staff > Departmental crew > Interns > AI > Borgs

Chain of Succession
Chain of succession is "who's in charge in an emergency." This decides who's acting CD when there is no CD, based on who exists/is alive. This is relinquished after the emergency ends... or the CD exists.

Colony Director > Head of Personnel* > Head of Security > Chief Engineer/Research Director/Chief Medical Officer (majority vote)
*HoP may take an acting CD during code green.

General Questions for all Heads of Staff
Byond Username:
Discord ID:
How long have you played on CHOMP station?
How long have you played SS13? Which servers have you played?
How do you quit the round and free up your job slot if you cannot access cryo or the gateway?

Colony Director
Information: The Colony Director is likely the hardest role on the facility. The Colony Director provides management, guidance, and supervision to the entire facility, and primarily enforces SoP and the proper chain of command. That said, the Colony Director may temporarily suspend portions of the Standard Operating Procedure and Chain of Command as necessary to resolve the issue. Beyond this, the Colony Director is expected to follow both Standard Operating Procedure and Corporate Regulations themselves. As such, a cool and level head is required for this position, especially in a crisis as you will be the one setting the tone for the entire crew. A good Colony Director has excellent communication skills, keeps all departments updated and aware of ongoing operations, and writes status reports to Central Command during situations of urgency. Furthermore, you require a solid understanding of the delegation of authority to heads of staff and other crew and may have to fill in for missing heads of staff (You should not know how to do every department job, but you may know enough for one department). You are not responsible for the job any more, you are responsible for the heads of staff, who are responsible for the people, who are responsible for the job. Lastly, you should remain within the bounds of the facilities and not venture out on expeditions.

Questions:
Explain the relationship between the Colony Director, Head of Personnel, and the Head of Security

Identify three situations in which code red would be prudent, and what powers does code red allow?

What regulations do you follow and enforce on the crew? How would you handle unauthorized personnel attempting to access the station?

Medical is currently short staffed and needs medications, and you know how to make them. What do you do?

Staff are building objects in main corridors that might impede the normal flow of traffic, but everyone seems to be having fun with it. What would you do?

The head of security is accusing you of breaking Corporate Regulations and is attempting to arrest you. You believe their understanding of this law to be incorrect and that you have not broken any regulations. How do you handle this?

What is the normal chain of command, and how can you modify this to handle certain emergencies?

You have to lead by example, but being too strict is never a good thing. In your opinion, how does an ideal Colony Director represent themselves?

Head of Personnel
Information: Responsible for all service departments and civilians. As the watchful eye on the station, it is your duty to delegate and stock all crew needs of house, food, cleanliness, and basic supplies. The Head of Personnel also manages all personal accounts of the crew, accounts of the facility, crew job histories, security notes, medical records, and process outsiders and permit access to the station if a clean record is demonstrable. The Head of Personnel is also the first in line to assume the position of Acting Colony Director in the absence of a Colony Director. As such, you require a solid understanding of Standard Operating Procedure, Corporate Regulations, and the Chain of Command, and how to apply them. You also manage crew member access, promotions/demotions, and other Human Resource related issues. You would also be expected to uphold the crew's rights while directing the civilian department. The Head of Personnel is a foundational part of the leadership team on the Southern Cross, and leading by example by showing patience, sound judgment, and stewardship are essential skills. You should remain within the bounds of the facilities and not venture out on expeditions.

Questions:
Explain the relationship between the Colony Director, Head of Personnel, and the Head of Security

Are you allowed to carry weapons, and if so what kinds and under what circumstances?

A crew member is asking for additional access with good reason. Explain how to handle this situation both when the relevant head of staff is present and when they are not present.

Can you give yourself all access?

Who do you outrank in an emergency when the Colony Director is present?

You disagree with the Colony Director on a decision. They are about to finalize it and you are physically present in front of the Colony Director and several other heads of staff. What do you do?

There is a Colony Director online and you see a situation of urgency they have not noticed yet. How do you report this and should you change the alert level?

Someone expresses a distaste for another head of staff and you agree with them. How do you handle the situation?

Head of Security
Information: Responsible for the safeguarding of the station, its crew, and its equipment. Security is the first line of defense against all external and internal threats and requires a sound understanding of Corporate Regulations and Standard Operating Procedures. The role of the Head of Security is often a controversial one as interpretation of the rules and application in unique situations is common. Chiefly, the Head of Security is bound to lead by example and inform the crew of situations as necessary. Additionally, the Head of Security is responsible for managing weapon permits and may deputize crew during emergencies. This is again a leadership position, and you should be the last person to take direct action during calls. You may respond to supervise, but you should normally be letting your security officers manage situations. NanoTrasen prefers an active working force over an incarcerated one, so your first line of defense is guiding the crew in following regulations. Arrests and punishment are expected to be applied where necessary, and this is where you come in. Lastly, the Head of Security is a foundational part of the leadership team on the facility. You will be expected to lead by example, be patient, and practice excellent judgment and knowledge of all applicable regulations.

Questions:
Explain the relationship between the Colony Director, Head of Personnel, and the Head of Security

What weapons and gear are you normally allowed to carry on code green? When should the armory be opened and weapons issued to security?

Someone is guilty of assaulting a crew member, assaulting a head of staff, manslaughter, sedition, and sabotage. What is the punishment and brig time length?

You believe the Colony Director is violating Corporate Regulations. Can and should you arrest them?

What are the differences between the Warden and the Head of Security? Can the Warden act as the Head of Security?

You witness someone being eaten by another crew member in a public area. How do you handle this?

You find the Head of Personnel in the armory without prior approval. How do you handle this?

How do you expect your security personnel to conduct themselves?

What do you do with someone who routinely breaks Corporate Regulations every shift?

You find players sceneing in maints that may or may not be doing illegal activities. What do you do in either case?

When are you allowed to view suit sensors to aid in an investigation?

Chief Engineer
Information: Responsible for all structural and engineered systems aboard the facility. This includes the engine, atmospherics, distribution of power, shielding, and maintenance of these systems. The Chief Engineer is also the primary person responsible for maintenance of Telecommunications and Artificial Intelligence’s upload areas. Primarily, the Chief Engineer is responsible to organize the engineers throughout the shift and have a sound understanding of Standard Operating Procedure. Good Chief Engineers should have an excellent knowledge of all engineering systems, construction, and deconstruction, as they will act as mentors and subject matter experts.
-Responsible for code orange determinations.

Questions:
When are station shields permitted?

Which head of staff approves station modifications?

A department would like a console setup that requires restricted equipment, such as boards from secure storage. How do you determine if they are allowed to have this?

Is it ever appropriate to weld vents and external access doors closed?

You or your engineers wish to convert the main engine to another type that may be dangerous. What considerations must be taken into account?

You or your engineers wish to make major modifications to the facility that will impact staff and normal operations. What are some considerations?

The Supermatter is overheating and is starting to delaminate. List 4 actions you can take to resolve the situation.

Describe the basic operation of atmospheric supply and scrubber loops. What are some basic modifications you can perform to help these systems?

Chief Medical Officer
Information: Responsible for the well being of all crew on the facility, both physical and mental health. Asides from having an in-depth knowledge of the Standard Operating Procedure, the Chief Medical Officer will follow their medical oath, ensure their staff is doing the same, uphold the crew's medical privacy, and direct all medical activities on the station. You will advise the Colony Director and other departments of hazards to the crew's health and safety, and provide recommendations to resolve these. The Chief Medical Officer will be the leading voice for crew health and be an advocate for suit sensors, and will delegate activities accordingly to their medical staff. Conversely, the Chief Medical officer is permitted to violate medical privacy under extreme circumstances, and must be the person to authorize it. Additionally, communicating with the crew during situations of urgency such as viruses, a decrease in medical availability, and other important crew health considerations is paramount.

Questions:
A patient is refusing treatment. How do you handle this?

A virus has been identified. What actions must be taken and who is responsible for them?

Identify what level of suit sensors are required on code green, blue, and red. Who is permitted to access this information?

The Colony Director wishes to know the outcome of a patient treatment and medical evaluation. There is no warrant or security issue at hand. How do you handle this?

What authority do you have over Field Medics? Additionally, can you bar them access to station medical supplies and issue orders to them?

A doctor wishes to perform procedures that might violate their medical oath, but the patient is consenting. What do you do?

A new round has started, and you have three doctors and one paramedic. What priorities must be accomplished? How would you organize your staff so you are ready for medical emergencies?

There are several dead and incapacitated crew members on the planet that are difficult to rescue. Should you clone them or attempt rescue? Why?

Research Director
Information: Responsible for all research related activities and the exploration department. The research department has access to some of the most destructive and hazardous materials and equipment on the station. It is the Research Directors responsibility to ensure that all science personnel and crew are handling these hazards and upgrades in a manner that does not jeopardize crew or station safety. Additionally, the Research Director manages the Artificial Intelligence’s core and cyborgs on the facility. They may also help with telecoms and while allowing the exploration department to manage themselves, they become involved when exploration starts misbehaving on station. The Research Director also reports up the chain of command and to Central Command on anomalies, specimens, data, and useful resources of interest. Assigning scientists where they are needed most and ensuring they are aware of, and protected from the hazards of the job. Of paramount concern, all science research and special equipment must be contained within the science department if they pose a threat to station and crew safety.

Questions:
Illegal weapons and upgrades are being created inside Research. Are they permitted inside the Research Department? How can you transport this equipment to the surface?

What authority do you have over the exploration department? Can you command them on missions?

How do you handle testing of dangerous equipment, such as explosives or weapons?

Several genetic mutations have been found and can be put into a DNA syringe to enhance crew members. Should you authorize this and under what circumstances if you do?

A dangerous artifact is found and researchers want to bring it aboard. How would you handle this?

Crewmembers are asking for upgrades, equipment, and modifications that could be dangerous. How do you handle this?

What is the purpose of Xenoarchaeology?

Describe safe handling of both Xenoflora and Xenobiology experiments.

AI
Information: The synthetic crew whose primary function above all else is to follow their laws and assist the crew. A good understanding of Standard Operating Procedure and Corporate Regulations is still required, but you do not enforce it. At most, Standard Operating Procedure and Corporate Regulations may guide some of your actions, but your actions must fall in line with your laws. As such, a good synthetic player will keep the crew apprised of any hazards or situations requiring their attention, and maintains a watchful eye of alarms, crew monitors, and other subsystems. This player is not a 7th Head of Staff, and playing it this way is  a good way to get yourself in trouble because you have a lot of access as a synthetic.
As a note, AI players are reactive and not proactive. Their main function on the station is to assist the crew. By doing so is via informing relevant crew of ongoing situations, awaiting or suggesting actions and only taking action when told to do so.

Questions:
What are your default laws and do any of them override each other?

How do you handle a law conflict?

Your laws have been changed to harm the crew and station. How do you respond?

You gain a law during an Ion Storm. How do you handle this?

Can you ever fill in as a head of staff? If yes, under what circumstances?

While on station in a synthetic or AI shell, what rules should you follow in public?

Under what circumstances may you permit unauthorized personnel into areas they do not have access?

Do any roles have a higher relevance than another? For example, the Chief Engineer and Engineer are giving you conflicting orders over handling of the Supermatter. Explain.

If a deck of the station is being consumed by a blob and the crew are responding to it but are becoming wounded, should you call the emergency evacuation shuttle for the crew by your own decision? To what extent does your AI law of "protect the crew" allow for this decision?

Internal Affairs Agent

Information: Responsible for legally protecting corporate interests. Criminals are not corporate interests. You are not a lawyer for the criminal, you are a lawyer for the company to solve interpersonal issues within the company... in the company's best interests. When an arrested individual requests an IAA, your responsibility is to ensure their employee rights weren't violated and that standard operating procedure was followed. NanoTrasen prefers an active working force over an incarcerated one, however you are not to impede the official proceedings of security. This is one of the most difficult roles to play. You must know a good deal about corporate regulations and the standard operating procedures, second only to the captain. A good IAA agent plays with a heavy emphasis on roleplay, but you should also allow for security to be able to do their job swiftly. Paperwork may be a greater focus for this job.

Questions:
You believe the Colony Director is violating Corporate Regulations. Can and should you arrest them?

A criminal is wanted for battery. During the arrest, the officer fired a point-blank beanbag shell into their leg and now the criminal claims their rights have been violated. You are now in the interview room with the officer and the criminal. What would you say and do for the defendant?

Someone on the station commits a medium level crime. There is no HoS, warden, or officer. How do you respond?

You witness someone being eaten by another crew member in a public area. How do you handle this?

You find players sceneing in maintenance who may or may not be doing illegal activities. What do you do?

A criminal is wanted for murder of a head of staff. During an arrest, the officer used contraband and spied on their location using medical's tracking sensors to apprehend the criminal, violating their employee rights. You are now in the interview room with the officer and the criminal. What would you say and do for the defendant and how does this play out?

When are you allowed aid in an investigation?

Foreword
CHOMPstation13 is a vore-based, roleplaying-focused Space Station 13 furry server. As a community, we strive to provide an enjoyable adult roleplaying environment with gameplay to offer immersion and provide game content when members feel like doing something other than roleplay. Since we allow the use of game mechanics in many situations despite being roleplay-focused, we consider ourselves MRP (medium roleplaying).

As a staff team, we prioritize vore first, roleplaying second, and gameplay third. Our enforcement of rules, community focus, and development of the game will typically follow this priority. As a player, if you treat your fellow players with kindness and respect, you will generally fare well. Our community comes here to relax, have fun, and take a break from the stresses of offline life.

Please note that we typically host at least one staff-led event every week which may present a different game environment than standard rounds. Many events strive to tell a story and further flesh out CHOMPstation’s roleplaying history, but may be much more gameplay-focused than typical rounds. Rules regarding gameplay and roleplaying tend to be laxer during events, particularly as it can be easy to get carried away during chaos.

Lastly, when in doubt, send an admin help. While each rule comes with clarifying subsections, it is not possible to cover every potential situation in a short document. If you have any questions or confusion regarding the rules, message a moderator, administrator,  or head administrator. Other forms of staff are not permitted or trained to moderate.

Unfamiliar with some of our terminology? We’ve included a glossary at the end of this document.

  20. Roles with AI laws must follow said laws.

  22. The intent of the rules is more important than the letter.
  23. Listen to the moderation team.
Rules
  1. You must be 18 years or older to play here, no exceptions. All characters must be 18 or older.
    1. Suspicion of being underage will result in a ban unless you can provide a photo ID proving you are of age. Immature behavior may be taken as evidence of being underage.
    2. Knowingly remaining silent about an underage user is grounds for a ban.
    3. Using age regression roleplay to circumvent this rule is prohibited.

  2. Be respectful toward other players in OOC (including Discord).
    1. Targeted harassment, conspiracies to drive off/get another player in trouble, and giving out player usernames/ckeys without permission are prohibited.
    2. This rule does not extend to previous drama in other communities.
    3. Reasonable IC drama can be permitted, if kept in moderation. The best rule of thumb is whether or not everybody involved is enjoying the interaction. If you feel unsure, use LOOC.
    4. Letting IC drama bleed into OOC or treating a player’s characters poorly for OOC reasons is prohibited.
    5. Pervasive, round-to-round IC drama may violate this rule.
    6. Politely ignoring somebody you do not want to interact with is permitted.
    7. Publicly complaining about other players in Discord is prohibited, even without stating the player’s name. Said player will likely see your message and know exactly what you refer to.

  3. OOC roleplaying preferences must be respected.
    1. Characters have an examinable section called “OOC Notes” where ERP preferences are listed. You are likewise expected to fill out your own OOC Notes with your do’s and don'ts before playing.
    2. We strongly recommend including a brief summary of your vore preferences and major likes/dislikes at the top of your OOC Notes. Dense blocks of text and links to F-list work best to provide further detail to your interests after you catch another player’s attention.
    3. Many players elect to have their OOC notes visible in the Character Directory, accessible by pressing “Character Directory” under the OOC tab. It is recommended to check this if you want to try out vorespawn.
    4. OOC Notes do not protect you from most gameplay. For example, your ERP preferences do not protect you from being arrested for committing a crime but do protect you from a security officer trying to turn an arrest into an ERP scene.
    5. If you are approached with an uncomfortable ERP topic not mentioned in your OOC Notes, you may say no via LOOC (or using ((double brackets)) if the other player has LOOC disabled). Do not use IC for this; it may be misinterpreted due to the popularity of unwilling ERP scenes.
    6. Do not attempt to coerce another player into a scene or force yourself into ongoing scenes when a participant has stated disinterest in LOOC. Likewise, you are not required to ERP with anybody, even if preferences match.
    7. Do not kinkshame others. While calm discussions about interests and dislikes are generally okay, passive-aggressive remarks toward others’ preferences are prohibited.
    8. Keep in mind that this is a vore server. While you are not required to be into vore to play here, you will be routinely exposed to voraphiles, a vore-centric community, vore roleplay, vore gameplay mechanics, vore discussions, vore humor, voraphile-targeted advertisement, vore-focused staff, and more. If vore makes you uncomfortable, you probably should not play here.
    9. If you have never tried vore roleplay or developed an opinion on it, we recommend trying it out. If that last line makes you uncomfortable, this might not be the community for you.

  4. Keep IC and OOC separate.
    1. You are expected to roleplay a character; thus IC (in character) and OOC (out of character) knowledge, interactions, etc. are separate. You knowing how to setup a supermatter engine does not make your medical doctor knowledgeable in engineering. Similarly, you knowing another player does not mean your character(s) knows that player’s character(s).
    2. While this rule is always applied when relevant to moderation, it is not always followed due the the prevalence of an “I am my character” mindset in furry communities. If you fear an action might upset another player, ask in LOOC. Do not assume.

  5. Do not powergame or abuse metaknowledge.
    1. Better known as “playing to win”, Powergaming consists of acquiring items, assets, etc. for the sake of being powerful. Common examples include adding extra access to ID’s without reason, stealing powerful objects from other departments, or doing the job(s) of other departments when said department is available and willing to do the job itself.
    2. Metaknowledge consists of acting on knowledge which your character would not reasonably know. This may be from outside of the game (such as the code on Github) or inside of the game (such as dying, witnessing a crime as a ghost, then reporting said crime when revived).
    3. Using third-party programs (Discord, Skype, etc) to coordinate with other players to gain an in-game advantage (metacommunication) is prohibited. Joining with multiple accounts simultaneously is considered metacommunication.

  6. Do not self-antag.
    1. Self-antag refers to a wide range of behavior best described as interfering with other players. This can range from stealing from departments or breaking vending machines to going on a murder spree or blowing up a department.
    2. This rule has the most amount of grey area due to the sheer number of actions which could be considered antagonistic. A good rule of thumb is whether or not an action will seriously hamper the enjoyment of another player. When in doubt, don’t do it.
    3. Being a nuisance might not be a good idea even if it does not violate this rule. Pranks and mischief are only enjoyable when those involved are having fun. If your behavior consistently upsets other players, you are probably in the wrong.
    4. Calling for help over a non-consensual roleplay you’ve OOCly consented to is considered self-antagging.
    5. Certain event volunteers during certain events are exempt from this rule, instead following guidelines from an Event Manager.

  7. Do not discuss on-going rounds in Discord.
    1. This is considered metacommunication and thus a violation of rule 5.

  8. Do not go out of your way to disrupt ERP.
    1. As a vore roleplaying server, vore roleplay is our focus. Attempting to enforce standards which make vore more difficult will likely get you ostracized while actively attempting to prevent or disrupt ERP may result in punishment.

  9. Dormitories are OOC protected for roleplay, even during events.
    1. Dorms are reserved for private roleplay. You are not permitted to patrol or break into occupied dorms, even as security/medical. You may not sabotage, destroy, or otherwise intentionally make dorms inaccessible.
    2. Medical is expected to ignore suit sensors located in the dorms.
    3. Due to the above restrictions, you may not use dorms to hide from security, stash illegal goods, or otherwise use dorms in a way intended to force other players to carry out their job duties (excluding damaging other players in roleplay).
    4. Dorms are not for going afk or disconnecting. Falling asleep during your roleplay is fine.
    5. Maintenance, bathrooms, areas outside of station grounds, areas not publicly observable, and public areas with activated privacy features lack special protections but are considered private for roleplaying purposes. You should not expect complete privacy but will not need to move your roleplay elsewhere.
    6. Public areas are somewhat of a grey area. While extreme kinks are prohibited, roleplay kept to whispers/subtles is usually okay as is public roleplay if nobody expresses discomfort. You should expect no privacy in public areas and should expect to move or transition to whispers/subtles if asked. A good rule of thumb is to avoid large, public ERP posts in crowded areas.

  10. Do not backseat moderate.
    1. Accusing other players of rule-breaking, threatening punishment, and/or threatening to call the staff is prohibited. If somebody is breaking the rules, contact the moderation staff. Threatening to contact us tends to start/worsen drama and may get you in trouble.
    2. Observing the round solely to search for rule-breaking is prohibited. Many behaviors may seem questionable without context and many rules deliberately include grey area. If everybody involved is enjoying themselves, it is probably not a rule break.

  11. Play a reasonably sane and mature character and stay in character.
    1. Your character should have a reasonable set of strengths and weaknesses. Knowing too much or possessing too many skills may violate rule 5. Knowing more than 2 non-civilian departments may violate rule 5.
    2. Speech should consist of speech, not emoticons or lolspeak.
    3. This setting contains no magic; your character cannot have any special powers which do not exist in this universe and cannot be replicated with game mechanics. Private roleplay in the dorms is the only exception to this.
    4. OOC Notes and Flavor Text are required. OOC Notes should detail your ERP preferences, Flavor Text should contain at least a basic physical description of your character. Flavor Text should only contain details evident from physically observing your character, not thoughts or backstory.
    5. Flavor Text may include reference images, though NSFW links should be labelled appropriately. We recommend a short URL such as imgur which allows the game to generate a hyperlink without cutting it off.
    6. Meme and reference characters are prohibited.
    7. Whitelisted species are expected to know and follow species lore.

  12. The use of racial slurs and/or derogatory/bigoted language toward real life social groups is prohibited.
    1. Words not widely recognized as slurs fall into a grey area. These are evaluated on a case-by-case basis but typically only prohibited when used offensively or directed toward somebody expressing distaste for said word.
    2. This rule does not extend to in-game only groups.

  13. You are expected to forget the events leading to death.
    1. Should you die and be later resleeved, you are expected to forget the events leading to your death. This is particularly important for event rounds with antagonists: if you can identify the antagonist who killed you, the antagonist needs to make sure you cannot be brought back to life for the rest of the round.
    2. Death during ERP is an exception if all involved players agree to letting you remember. Ask first, do not assume.
    3. Seeking revenge for an OOCly consented death is heavily frowned on and may violate rules 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8. If a fatal kink makes you want to seek revenge, do not roleplay it.

  14. Do not inconvenience AFK/disconnected players.
    1. IC emergencies and events may override this rule.
    2. Disconnected players may be placed in cryosleep after 30 minutes of inactivity.
    3. Jail time served while disconnected still counts as jail time served.
    4. You may not eat disconnected players unless their OOC notes explicitly allow such.

  15. Suicide is prohibited.
    1. This is mostly due to suicide being used for attention and/or guilting other playersinto roleplay.
    2. This only applies to suicide. Space Station 13 is designed to teach you the game by killing you in a wide variety of stupid, often humorous means.

  16. Roleplay when feasible.
    1. Keep in mind that player-versus-player combat may violate other rules.
    2. You are expected not to engage in player-versus-player combat without reasonable provocation. Common examples of provocation include roleplay clearly leading into a fight, harassment after a stated threat, or harmless mechanics building into harmful mechanics.
    3. Fleeing from security, brandishing a deadly weapon, moving when being aimed at, and attempts to disarm frequently count as reasonable provocation.
    4. Playing a typically AI-controlled mob and acting like an AI-mob or hanging around a dangerous location may count as provocation. It is frequently not obvious at first glance when a hostile mob is player-controlled.
    5. This rule is not strictly enforced and is typically applied during player disputes about appropriate/inappropriate use of mechanics.

  17. Do not abuse global OOC.
    1. Global OOC is intended for short announcements and simple questions. Drama, lengthy discussions, spam, memes, rants, and generally anything which floods the chatbox is prohibited. We have Discord for this.
    2. Complaining about misuse of Global OOC in Global OOC is misuse of Global OOC.

  18. Do not disconnect if contacted by the moderation team.
    1. Disconnecting when contacted about a rule violation will be regarded as an attempt to avoid punishment. If you must leave, say something first.
    2. We will be understanding if your internet cuts out at a bad time but you may need to contact us through Discord.

  19. You are expected to fulfill the basic responsibilities of the job you sign up for.
    1. Repeatedly failing to do the bare minimum required by your department may result in a job ban. The specifics vary from job to job while Heads of Staff are held to higher standards than other staff.
    2. Your character must be physically capable of performing the job. For example, most jobs require at least one functioning hand. Security needs to be physically capable of subduing criminals and thus lack easily exploitable traits such as lightweight or dirt weakness.
    3. You are expected to obey reasonable orders from your Head of Staff (or Central Command, if you are the Colony Director).
    4. As a Head of Staff, you are expected to give reasonable orders and only when necessary. Micromanaging a department on a quiet round or ordering your staff to drop a roleplay to handle a nonessential chore will quickly earn you the ire of other players and may cost you your whitelist if severe. If an essential duty crops up and your staff are unavailable, you are expected to handle it.
    5. Heads of Staff are expected to be knowledgeable in their department. A whitelist is not a license to take command of a department you have never played.
    6. As a Head of Staff, abusing your authority against players you dislike is prohibited and may violate other rules.
    7. This rule does not apply to failing a job due to not knowing the job. You are expected to make mistakes frequently while learning a new job.

  20. Roles with AI laws must follow said laws.
    1. Lawed roles (AI, cyborg, drones) must follow their AI laws, even if the laws are illegal or require disobeying Command staff.
    2. If you believe a law or order breaks server rules, send an adminhelp.
    3. This rule is not a license for other players to prevent you from doing your job or bar you from roleplaying. If your orders prevent you from having fun, contact the moderation team for a second opinion.

  21. You must know how to read and write English to play here.
    1. At minimum, you must know English well enough to understand the rules and communicate with staff and other players.

  22. The intent of the rules is more important than the letter.
    1. The rules deliberately contain much grey area as it is not possible to detail every potential situation which does/does not violate the rules. The intent and thus enforcement of the rules is to provide an enjoyable roleplaying environment for a community of voraphiles.
    2. As such, a rule may not be enforced if everybody involved is enjoying themselves. Similarly, a situation which upsets a large number of players may need admin intervention even if not specifically addressed in the rules.
    3. If it is not yet clear, attempting to find a technicality in the wording of the rules will be ignored. If your behavior is causing problems for many other players, it must stop.

  23. Listen to the moderation team.
    1. As implied by rule 21, the enforcement of the rules is flexible and thus up to interpretation by the moderation team. Our job is to tackle problems not mentioned in the rules and never seen before by anybody on the team: if an admin tells you to do something, do it; if an admin tells you to stop, stop. If you disagree with a ruling, contact the staff member after the situation settles. We frequently need to make quick decisions on limited information and may not be able to fully address your concerns in the heat of the moment.
    2. If you suspect bias, you may discuss your case with up to three administrators. Pressing the issue further will be considered harassment.
