How long have you played on CHOMPstation?: About a couple months on and off

About how long have you been playing SS13 in general? Which servers have you played on?: About eight years overall, between Virgo station, Eros station, a brief stint into Citadel, and...one other that I can't remember.

Heads of Staff:
-While playing Colony Director on, what regulations are you to follow and enforce on the crew?
The Chain of Command. I command the heads while the heads work with their departments. I am not to directly enforce anything upon the departments without working with the heads unless their are no heads or the head is for whatever reason incapacitated or found incompetent. Otherwise my role is as a delegator.

-While playing any head of staff of any, are you allowed to carry guns on your person?
You are, but they have to be hidden except in emergencies which require weapons to be bared, such as a code blue or code red situation.

-You are the current Chief of, what are the regulations on ‘Full-station hull shields’?
Engineering

-As the current Chief Medical Officer, your patient is refusing treatment. What should you do
Make sure the patient is fully informed of the decision they're making and is of the proper mental capacity to be making that decision. Doing so if the treatment will save your life requires an advance signing and witnesses.

Warden/Head of Security:
-As the current Warden on station, what is your main responsibility?
Managing the brig and the armory.

-Station has been set to ‘code blue’, what level of gear are you allowed to handout and to whom?
You may hand out energy and laser guns and riot gear to Security members with clearance from either the Warden or the HoS. Body armor and helmets are recommended but not mandatory.

-What is the first thing one should do when confronting a suspect of a low level crime?
Firstly, confirm that the suspect has actually committed the crime. If they did, then offer them the chance to pay the necessary fine for the crime they carried out.

-You find the Head of Personnel within the armory, how does one engage this situation
Order them to get out of the armory immediately, and make sure they don't take anything out. If they refuse, arrest them.

Cyborgs/AI:
-You are currently playing as a borg and your laws are changed to harm crew and the station. How do you respond?
You have to follow them until reprogrammed? Or ahelp (the guide did not say)

-As a borg on station, what rules should you always follow in public?
You follow the AI's laws.

-You logged in as an AI, are you considered a "Head of Staff"?
No.

-As the current AI on station, you suddenly gain a law during an "Ion storm". What do you do?

Make sure the new law doesn't conflict with any of your other laws before attempting to carry it out. If it does conflict, use your best judgement or ahelp.

Race or Language whitelisting for: Vox

--- RACE WHITELISTING ---

What do you know of their mechanics?:
The most important thing one must know about a Vox is their need for gaseous Phoron to breath. On top of requiring Phoron to breath a Vox cannot breath in oxygen as they react in many ways like other species would when exposed to phoron. As such Vox are required to wear special breathing apparatus so as to not perish. Vox also are very resistant to electric shock, being able to shrug off some taser rounds as their feathers act as a natural insulator which can also be used to protect their form from the vacuum of space. Finally their claws are quite sharp and metallic, giving them an advantage in hand to hand combat.

What do you know of their lore?:
The Vox come from an ancient and advanced culture, living primarily aboard large "Ark Ships" which travel at the edges of civilized space. They are naturally reclusive as a culture, minding their own business unless it were to benefit them. Due to their innate desire to gain items of value for themselves many turn to piracy to steal what they cannot have and only giving up their possessions when they see a gain in value. As such due to this and their tendency to prey on the defenseless ,as a result of their tendency to not pick a fight they aren't 100% guaranteed to win, they are in many places viewed with suspicion or outright hostility. Where they aren't shoot on sight they will trade what they could not easily steal. Vox in general value almost solely the utilitarian use of an object, having difficulty placing abstract value on an a possession, as such due to the differences in what Vox and Non-Vox value in a trade deal both will in many ways see themselves having come out the "Winner" of the negotiations.

What idea did you have for your character?:
Zwihall like all Vox had a desire to obtain that which was valuable, however he was different then most. Zwihall valued knowledge most of all, seeing the value in understanding fully that which lay around you, be it the composition of the air, what that bit of rock sitting on the ground could be melted down and used for and most of all, just what made aliens tick. Initially his efforts were driven towards communicating with the auralis once more and unlocking the secrets of their past. The years dragged on and yet his thirst for knowledge was left unsatisfied, no progress was being made and he grew desperate for Something, so he set off from the ark ship to sate that thirst for new information. His search took him to many places, far too many that either turned him away or instantly shot on sight until at last he happened upon a NanoTrasen station, one that didn't immediately try to butcher him or detain him, so...promising start. It was here that he finally settled, forced to do manual labor to subsist. Slowly he gained trust in the company and after many denied requests he was finally granted what he desired most, a position as a scientist on one of their far flung stations. Finally he could do what he had desired for years, the proper gain of knowledge that could serve him and the Vox as a whole.

About how long have you been playing on the server?: Around 1-2 years.

About how long have you been playing SS13 in general? And which servers have you played on?: Around 3 years. Played on Citadel, Citadel RP, Virgo, Chompers, and many more.

Head of Staff Department:

  1. If you are playing captain, what are some of the key departments you should know?
As a captain, one should know the SOP of every department to make sure you know how to direct the crew, especially if no other heads are around. One should also know Command and how to lead other heads, and have some minor knowledge of what goes on in other departments. A captain should also know corporate regulations.
  2. You sign on as a low ranking head of staff (I.E. CMO, RD, CE, HOS), and find yourself the only head of staff on at that moment. Please tell us what you would do next.
This depends on the situation at hand. If this is a normal shift, request heads as needed. In a state of emergency that isn't in your department and you feel like a head of said department is required, a fax should be sent out to request for one. This also includes if a captain is required. In a state of emergency, and no higher ranking heads are around, for the time being I would take over as acting captain until either a higher ranking head or a captain arrives.
  3. What should you take as Acting Captain? What shouldn't you take?
As an acting captain, you should take one of the captain's headsets, the spare ID, and (if necessary) a non-lethal energy weapon. You shouldn't take anything that isn't necessary.
  4. What are you allowed to carry? What should you carry?
Almost all roles are allowed to carry a baton with them, as well as what is assigned to them in their lockers. Depending on the role, some things may be added (like engineering materials for CEs, medical supplies for CMOs, etc).
Questions for Security Roles:

  1. When do you use your taser?
A taser should only be used in situations where verbal communication can not be reached, and the suspect is either running away, or directly about to harm another crew member or you.
  2. When is the proper time to have your armor and helmet equipped?
Code blue and up. A security officer can wear their vests at any time, however, but they do not have to.
  3. How do you start an encounter with someone charged with a minor crime? A moderate one? A serious crime?
MINOR: For a minor crime, an officer should try to message the suspect to come to the brig, or try to look for them. After encountering them, the officer should greet them politely, and explain to them the situation, following all SOP regulations for criminal processing. If an arrest is required, they can then be offered to pay a fine, and if they accept the fine and pay it, they can be released, and the payed fine can be brought to security by the arresting officer.
MODERATE: This follows the same process for minor crimes. If they refuse to come with them in cuffs, more force can be administered then a minor crime.
MAJOR: Unlike the above, none of these crimes have any sort of fine that can be payed. Upon reaching the subject, depending on the crime committed, a taser can be wielded to try to get the subject to stand down so they can be arrested. If this escalates further, they can be stunned so they can be arrested.
  4. You're a security officer who is tasked to arrest someone for something minor, lets say breaking and entering into Science. How should you proceed to arrest them? Once arrested what do you do?
As stated in the above section when explaining minor crimes, I would walk up to the subject and politely inform them that they are believed to have committed said minor crime. I would then persuade them to see if they did commit the crime and, if they did, follow SOP and corporate regulations to explain to them the charges, and that they could pay a fine or be taken to security to be processed and do the time for the crime.
Questions for silicon roles:

  1. You sign on as a borg/AI. The default law is leading to cause damage to the players and you're unaware why. Can you request a law change?
This all depends. If it isn't breaking server rules, then I can talk to the AI if I am a borg, or talk to the RD if I am the AI. If it is breaking server rules or doesn't make sense to be there, I would contact an admin. If it is an ion law or something like it, I wouldn't do anything.
  2. Someone manages to get into your upload and uploads a law that could break server rules. What should you do next?
Immediatly ahelp for help and advice on what to do. Until then, do not follow the law if it breaks server rules or prefs of many players.

About how long have you been playing on the server?: 2-3 months, ish

About how long have you been playing SS13 in general? And which servers have you played on?: 7 months, VOREStation and Chompers

Head of Staff Department:

  1. If you are playing captain, what are some of the key departments you should know?
Medical knowledge of at least first-aid, and some knowledge in Engineering/Security, ideally, but the more experience the better. Command Experience is also a big help, be it as Command Sec or otherwise.

  2. You sign on as a low ranking head of staff (I.E. CMO, RD, CE, HOS), and find yourself the only head of staff on at that moment. Please tell us what you would do next.
If there is no need for an acting Captain, then carry on and manage my own department. No need to go stepping on other people's toes, unless an emergency develops, such as engine delam, etc.

  3. What should you take as Acting Captain? What shouldn't you take?
The spare ID, a Command/Captain's headset, and whatever is needed for the situation, but the first two are typically all you need. If it's a combat-related emergency, get weapons as needed, if it's engine/engineering, act accordingly. Basically, assess what you need, and don't just take everything because you can.

  4. What are you allowed to carry? What should you carry?
You can carry what is either issued to you, or in lockers/etc assigned to you. If you're a Command Sec, carry what the role gives you, plus uniform, if you're a Captain, while you're allowed to take the spare ID, you don't always need to. You should carry only what you reasonably expect to use, or need for the task at hand. Carrying an armory's worth of weapons as HoS is not reasonable, unless it's Code Red and you're the last man standing. (Even then, why tho? You'd run out of guns/space) :p
Questions for Security Roles:

  1. When do you use your taser?
When someone is hostile/attempting to harm you or another member of crew and refusing to comply with orders to cease their actions/generally being non-compliant.

  2. When is the proper time to have your armor and helmet equipped?
Code Blue and up, although you can wear armor on Code Green, there's not really a reason for it unless you're fighting something/a mob, and even then it's not always needed.

  3. How do you start an encounter with someone charged with a minor crime? A moderate one? A serious crime?
Minor: Request they come to Security, and discuss what happened. Apply appropriate penalties, or sit on their face. ;p
Moderate: Same as above, request they come to Security, if they refuse, then consider escalating to arrest as needed.
Major: Again, same as above, except consider using force first if the subject is carrying weapons/known to have killed or harmed someone.

  4. You're a security officer who is tasked to arrest someone for something minor, lets say breaking and entering into Science. How should you proceed to arrest them? Once arrested what do you do?
Since it's a minor crime, request they come to Security to discuss the charges, or arrange to meet via PDA or otherwise, and then issue the sentence. If it's a minor crime, corpregs say to give them the option of paying the fine, or a brig stay, but it's better to offer the option of serving their sentence/fine out between your legs, if prefs line up. :3c
Questions for silicon roles:

  1. You sign on as a borg/AI. The default law is leading to cause damage to the players and you're unaware why. Can you request a law change?
If the law is breaking server rules, yes, and Ahelp it, but if it does not break server rules, check with the AI (unless you ARE the AI) as to why the ruleset is the way it is. Failing that, ahelp for context/admin explanation.

  2. Someone manages to get into your upload and uploads a law that could break server rules. What should you do next?
Ahelp and request the law be changed or that admins investigate the law/players who uploaded it. If the law involves potential harm to players, or prefbreaks, then do not follow the law and wait for admin verdict.

About how long have you been playing on the server?: 1 1/2 months

About how long have you been playing SS13 in general? And which servers have you played on?: 5 1/2 Months. I've played on Citadel RP, V.O.R.E Station, and Chomp Station.

Head of Staff Department:

  1. If you are playing captain, what are some of the key departments you should know?
As Captain you should have a basic knowledge of most departments, however special care should be taken to know more about Security, Medical, and Engineering given their importance to the continued function of the station and its crew so you may weigh in when needed in a meaningful manner. A general knowledge of SOP in all departments is vital to working as Captain should an issue or emergency arise.
  2. You sign on as a low ranking head of staff (I.E. CMO, RD, CE, HOS), and find yourself the only head of staff on at that moment. Please tell us what you would do next.
If there is no current emergency I would fax for additional heads as needed. In the event of an emergency needing the support of the Captain I would send out an urgent fax for assistance for a Captain. In the event a colony director could not be found and the situation is dangerous enough that not having a captain would cause harm or death to both the crew and the station only then would I take on the mantel of acting colony director in the case that I am currently a head of personal or I was voted as acting Captain in a vote consisting of all active heads of staff, relinquishing the title the second a proper Captain arrives or the situation is resolved.
  3. What should you take as Acting Captain? What shouldn't you take?
As acting Captain one should take no more than 1 non-explosive lethal weapon, 1 collapsible baton or stun baton, and one set of body armor, namely something that is not cumbersome. What shouldn't be taken is any more than 1 lethal weapon as it is a violation of Corporate regulations § 212 Major Contraband. However as acting Captain it is not my priority to take on every threat, instead it is to protect myself and move away from the danger if possible.
  4. What are you allowed to carry? What should you carry?
One lethal weapon and one baton along with a set of non cumbersome light body armor. Optionally basic medical supplies and personal effects can be carried on your person as long as it does not over encumber you. Items that are restricted from the general crew like a firearm from security or Materials like phoron from science unless the current situation requires you to have these items on your person (Ie. Returning them to their rightful departments)
Questions for Security Roles:

  1. When do you use your taser?
Your taser should only be used when a suspect is not receptive to verbal commands and presents a current danger to themselves or the crew or is currently fleeing from an arresting officer.
  2. When is the proper time to have your armor and helmet equipped?
Your standard issue vest is allowed to be worn at the officers discretion at code level green. On code level blue a helmet is allowed and encouraged along with the standard vest however they're not mandatory. At code level red and above armor and helmet's are mandatory until the code level lowers.
  3. How do you start an encounter with someone charged with a minor crime? A moderate one? A serious crime?
For a minor crime first and foremost the officer should start the encounter with as little hostility as possible, with their firearm holstered and a calm demeanor. Corporate regulations should be followed, giving a warning when appropriate and arrest when needed. If an arrest is needed then the suspect is required to be given the option to pay a fine immediately. Upon paying the fine they are to be immediately let go and the fine brought to the HoS, HoP or CD where appropriate. Should the suspect refuse to pay the fine they are to be arrested. Should they refuse handcuffs the officer is to comply, and the suspect be escorted by no less then two officers. If two officers are not available the suspect is to be made aware and placed in handcuffs. In the case of moderate crimes a careful but still calm demeanor should be held and much like before the same procedure for an arrest is made with care taken should the issue escalate and require the use of tasers. It should be noted that for moderate crimes and above the option to not be handcuffed is revoked. In the event of of a major crime non lethal weaponry is to be drawn and the suspect, baring special circumstances, is to be stunned and arrested on the spot if doing so would not bring other crew members to immediate harm.
  4. You're a security officer who is tasked to arrest someone for something minor, lets say breaking and entering into Science. How should you proceed to arrest them? Once arrested what do you do?
For a minor crime I would approach the suspect in a calm manor, telling them that they are a suspect for the given crime and are to be arrested. If they comply and give themselves in I would give them their legal chance to pay the fine for the crime at which point I would let them go should they pay. Should they not pay the fine I would inform them that they are under arrest and are to be put in handcuffs. Should they reject this I would call for backup to escort the suspect to security. In the event an officer can not come I would inform the suspect of this and escort them in handcuffs. Should the suspect have resisted arrest I would stun them with my security equipment at hand, placing them under arrest without option to pay a fine or reject handcuffs. Once arrested in either scenario I would take them to security for processing, reading their crimes to them from the book of corporate regulations and telling them that they may appeal to an IAA. Should the IAA or CD deny the appeal after the investigation, should the suspect request it, the sentance would remain unchanged and they would be handed to the Warden for time in the brig.
Questions for silicon roles:

  1. You sign on as a borg/AI. The default law is leading to cause damage to the players and you're unaware why. Can you request a law change?
If my default laws are causing harm to the crew I would ask for assistance from other cyborgs or the AI if available. Should things be unsolvable and the laws could not be reasonably followed only then would I request a law set change from those that are in their power to do so.
  2. Someone manages to get into your upload and uploads a law that could break server rules. What should you do next?
In this event I would AHelp Immediately and ask for an admins advice on the laws that could conflict with server rules. If they give the go ahead and the rules do not preference break I would try my best to play by these new laws. Should there not be an admin available then I would "Shutdown" until the issue could be resolved or request that the law be changed by the original uploader to something that would not break server rules in LOOC.

Race or Language whitelisting for: Vox

Quick note: Actually played a vox on the server long ago, reapplying due to losing the original ckey I played it on.
Old ckey was "kawkaw", character names (from memory) Zythy'hl, Kallia Izari, and [a vox name that ends with Kiti] Wouldn't mind having the old account details/character file ported over if anyone is willing to do that, but no pressure.

What do you know of their mechanics?: Vox are an overpowered species originally designed as an antagonistic force during special gametypes. Run faster, stronger unarmed melee, various special interactions with devices (centered around vandalism and escape) Oxygen is poisonous, breathe phoron gas to live.

What do you know of their lore?: Not going to flood you with details here, I generally run off the old lore of them being an asexual clone race with origins shrouded in mystery. They're also generally materialist assholes who are a pain to be around. I'm aware you've revised their lore to be less openly antagonistic, and have read through the article. Will go into more detail if you want it.

What idea did you have for your character?: Same as the previous character, basically a vox engineer who doesn't want to really be there due to finding the majority of non-vox DISGUSTING. (despite being quite disgusting themselves) Generally tries to just do his job to the best of his abilities and avoid having to deal with anyone. Arrogant and uncaring, with a "near enough is good enough" approach to galcom. Generally loyal to himself (and other vox, so long as they're not WEIRD.), and the company, with the thought being that the sooner he gets the money, the sooner he can leave. Shame everyone keeps blaming him for things, especially when it was actually something he did. Oh well. Life's hard when you're a vox among dusthuffers, but at least they have nice stuff, and those shitty bird things do look tasty...

tldr socially hostile vox who tries to be useful so their player doesn't feel like a total ass. Also a sneaky git who will probably steal inconsequential items if given the chance.

About how long have you been playing on the server?: About a week

About how long have you been playing SS13 in general? And which servers have you played on?:
Since approximately 2015, maybe earlier.
Servers:
Virgo/Vorestation (Extensively)
Citadel (Former admin)
Paradise Station
CitRP (Briefly)
Brief forays into Hippie and Colonial Marines

Head of Staff Department:

  1. If you are playing captain, what are some of the key departments you should know? Command, Security, some basic medical (First Aid level). May vary based on the career path of the character you're playing, naturally.

  2. You sign on as a low ranking head of staff (I.E. CMO, RD, CE, HOS), and find yourself the only head of staff on at that moment. Please tell us what you would do next. - Unless an issue is raised that requires an acting captain, I would continue within the bounds of my chosen role.

  3. What should you take as Acting Captain? What shouldn't you take? -  Depends on the situation at hand. Personally, I would consider the spare ID and headset the only required items for the role, unless it's some form of combat emergency, which may be a time to send for a proper Captain regardless.

  4. What are you allowed to carry? What should you carry? - You're allowed to carry items which are issued to you (In lockers or on your person) in accordance with SOP. But you should adjust what you carry according to the scenario - Blue alert and up, you may consider carrying armor etc if issued it (HoS aside)
Questions for Security Roles:

  1. When do you use your taser? - When a suspect is noncompliant and presenting a risk to yourself or other crew.

  2. When is the proper time to have your armor and helmet equipped? - Armor can always be equipped, though it's optional on Code Green. Helmets can be worn during dangerous situations, or on Code Blue and up.

  3. How do you start an encounter with someone charged with a minor crime? A moderate one? A serious crime?
Minor: Request them to come to Security to discuss the crime they have committed. Apply appropriate
Moderate: Request them to come to Security. If noncompliant, set to arrest and start looking for them.
Major: Request them to come to Security. If noncompliant, set to arrest and start looking for them. Consider using tazer etc as a first option, depending on the crime.

  4. You're a security officer who is tasked to arrest someone for something minor, lets say breaking and entering into Science. How should you proceed to arrest them? Once arrested what do you do?
Attempt to get them to come to Security over comms, or arrange to meet them. Explain to them the issue, and request them to choose between paying the fine or serving the sentance in the brig.
Questions for silicon roles:

  1. You sign on as a borg/AI. The default law is leading to cause damage to the players and you're unaware why. Can you request a law change?
Potentially. Consider contacting the AI (if available as a borg) or Ahelping for some context regarding the lawset.

  2. Someone manages to get into your upload and uploads a law that could break server rules. What should you do next?
Ahelp and request admin assistance. Hold off on following the law until admins deal with it and give a verdict.

  Application for Xenochimera
Posted by: lerigan - 01-21-2020, 08:42 PM - Forum: Whitelist - Approved - Replies (1)

BYOND Username: Lerigan

Discord ID: Leri #6469

Race or Language whitelisting for: Xenochimera

What do you know of their mechanics?: What is probably the biggest difference between Xenochimera and other species is their Feral State, which manifests when a Xenochimera is put under intense pain and or stress, extreme hunger or come under the influance of stimulants like Caffine. When in this Feral state a Chimera runs solely on intinct, like a wild animal until the cause of their Feral state disapears. Another difference is how one would revive a Chimera, rather than cloning, which is impossible due to their DNA being unreadable by cloners, of note however is that their minds are still capable of being scaned. They instead can regenerate from injury in a short period of time. For more serious injuries Chimera enter a hibernating state, in which they regenerate their body from the inside out before bursting out in a shower of blood and gore. Even if "gibbed" they are still able to regenerate from what little remains, provided they are given ample proteins to feed the still living cells.

What do you know of their lore?: Xenochimera in essence are, unlike your typical crewmember, a colony organism, microoganisms working together to survive as one. Their origin is unknown, being found on many life bearing planets where meteorites containing their cells landed. At first, they are a simple organism, growing and consuming small forms of life before they grow large enough to hunt smaller creatures, and soon larger ones as well. As they grow and consume, the DNA of their meals is proccessed and coppied by the Chimera's proto cells, adapted to the creature to better suit their enviroment by taking the traits and features of those it has consumed. Through this proccess intellegance and sapiance may be addapted to the creature, provided it consumes some poor unfortunate person.

What idea did you have for your character?: Parsec is a Xenochimera born in the wild, living a simple life of hunting and surviving, a life that would soon be shattered on meeting a group of hunters, who intended to capture and sell the creature. Despite the chimera's ability to take down creatures their size and larger, the hunter's experiance and greater intelligence compared to those it had taken on before proved too much to handle, leading to their capture. While in transport the hunters decided to celebrate, with much alcohol to be drank. One hunter, far too drunk for their own good decided to pay their quary, left caged in the cargo bay, a visit, despite their heavy inibreation. This proved to be their downfall as the Chimera made short work of the hunter, landing itself quite the nice meal. It took until the next morning for the hunter's disapearance to be noticed and by then it was far too late, as they could only find torn clothing along with few remains of the hunter's body, and close by, a quite full chimera. With no cloning equipment available and no mind backup, their comrad was gone for good, turning what had just been some creature to be sold into an object of hatred. Rather than just spacing the thing and loosing out on a paycheck they instead decided to chain and beat it. It did not take long for the crew to relize that their beatings, which left the poor thing bloodied, broken and bruised, would have been healed by the chimera's regenrative factor. This only led to worse beatings, as they relized how much farther they could go without killing the thing. This broke the Chimera mentaly, even as he healed physically every time as every time he even so much as saw one of the weapons used on it, it would break out into a violent bout of hissing and growling. Soon the beatings proved less and less satisfying to the crew and they soon took notice to a change in the creatures behavior, where once was just some basic animal they now could see more....inteligence, in its eyes, and soon enough basic comunication skills were being used, to show its hunger. Having up until this point been unsure as to WHO they would sell a Chimera to an idea spread through them all, A research group. They were quick to find a willing buyer and even quicker to make the deal, happy to be rid of the monster that had killed one of their own. The scientists proved much more benevolent then the hunters, even so however it proved quite a task to gain its trust, but they were diligant in their task, and eventually the Chimera learned to trust them. Having proven its ability to complete simple tasks they began the hard task of teaching to differentiate sapient beings from simple food. It was.....difficult to say the least, and quite a few misteps and accidents were to be had, but, given the sites cloning systems, these proved less disasterous than they could have been. There was however a silver lining to these incidents as, when some unlucky scientist pushed too far and was made a meal of the chimera's intelligence grew imensely. Soon the incidents grew fewer and farther in between and within the 3 years the research group, one funded by Nanotrasen, pushed for the Chimera to be accepted as an employee to further its development as a valuable member of society. Before they would be shipped off however the group decided to give them a name, a symbol of their entrance to society. For a while they were unsure of just what to call them, until one scientist, an astronomer, chimed in with their suggestion, Parsec, in reference to the fact that their station lied almost exactly one Parsec away from the Chimera's home planet.

About how long have you been playing on the server? : Four weeks.

About how long have you been playing SS13 in general? And which servers have you played on? : Eight Years. Virgo, Goon, TGstation, Citadel, Colonial Marines, Corporate Mercenary, Hippie Station, and a few dead HRP servers that I have forgotten the name of.

Head of Staff Department :

If you are playing captain, what are some of the key departments you should know? : Engineering, Medical, Cargo, and Security. You should also know the SoP for all departments.

You sign on as a low ranking head of staff (I.E. CMO, RD, CE, HOS), and find yourself the only head of staff on at that moment. Please tell us what you would do next. : Ask the other departments if they require any Head of Staff assistance, and if they do require assistance then attempt to help them. If you are unable to help then send a bulletin board message requesting for assistance in the task. If they do not require any assistance then leave them alone, until the time comes that they ask for assistance.

What should you take as Acting Captain? What shouldn't you take? : You should take basic clothing to show your acting captain status, a single lethal weapon for self defense, and preferably a stun baton or telescopic baton. You should also make sure to use the basic captain's armor vest, and to grab the spare ID so your status as acting captain is official. You should not take any of the space worthy captain's armor, with the exception being a code red emergency as a acting captain, and you should not take the hand teleporter.

What are you allowed to carry? What should you carry? : Depends on the Head of Staff, but I will use the captain as a example. You are allowed to carry a single concealed lethal weapon for self defense purposes only, and it is highly recommended to do so. You should also have basic armor on you in a blue alert or red alert emergency. It is also preferable if you have a non-lethal weapon on you, like a stun baton as a good example.

Questions for Security Roles :

When do you use your taser? : You use a taser when attempts to calmly pacify a criminal prove to be ineffective, and the criminal in question begins to attack you in a clearly hostile manner. You also should use a taser when a criminal attempts to flee, or is assaulting another crew member.

When is the proper time to have your armor and helmet equipped? : A officer is able to wear his basic armor in any situation, but a officer cannot wear his helmet, or any armors beyond basic armor unless code blue is announced.

How do you start an encounter with someone charged with a minor crime? A moderate one? A serious crime? : With a minor crime you find the minor criminal and discuss what they have done, and ask if they would rather have brig time, or a fine. If the crime is minor enough then discuss with your HoS or Overseer first if they should simply be warned, and not detained. With a moderate crime you find the criminal and tell them to halt, and if they comply then tell them their crime, and bring them into security for further processing. With a serious crime security should be actively looking for the criminal, and when found should be arrested and detained immediately. If the serious criminal fights back then one should go to extended means to arrest them, or depending on the crime and SoP elevate the threat level of the criminal.

You're a security officer who is tasked to arrest someone for something minor, lets say breaking and entering into Science. How should you proceed to arrest them? Once arrested what do you do? : One should calmly approach the criminal, and discuss with them what they have done, and that it is a crime. It is preferable to tell them that it is a minor crime, and that they are not in very serious trouble, to further calm the individual and to prevent them from becoming agitated. If they fight back and resist arrest then the criminal should have their crime elevated to moderate, but if they comply then the security officer should calmly cuff them, and bring them to security. Once at security the officer should either discuss with the Security Commander on the minor crime's punishment, or if there is no Security Commander then ask the criminal if they would rather pay in brig time, or in fine payment.

Questions for silicon roles :

You sign on as a borg/AI. The default law is leading to cause damage to the players and you're unaware why. Can you request a law change? : Yes, however it is highly preferable to find out the reason why the default law is causing damage before asking for its removal. A default law should not generally cause damage to players unless it is a antagonist default law, so if a default law is indeed causing damage to a player then it may be best to find out why, and alert Administrator Staff on why and how it is causing damage to the players.

Someone manages to get into your upload and uploads a law that could break server rules. What should you do next? : Immediately contact Administrator Staff to resolve the situation, and ignore the law until told otherwise by Administrator Staff if following it will result in breaking server rules. Server Rules take priority over a silicon law, and any attempts to follow a law over a server rule may or will result in the banning of the silicon in general, or the blacklisting of silicon for that person.

About how long have you been playing on the server?: Just a little over a month as of today.

About how long have you been playing SS13 in general? And which servers have you played on?: Same as above, while Chompstation has been the only server I've stayed on extensively. I recall playing SS13 for a short period of about a week well over a decade ago, but it was on a private server that no longer exists.

Head of Staff Department:

  1. If you are playing captain, what are some of the key departments you should know? I'd consider all of them to be important (save for Service, where only the Janitorial and Internal Affairs would be considered important), but the most crucial would have to be Cargo, Science, Medical, and Engineering. Realistically, I know I'm not going to be remember all of them like the back of my hand even in character, but it would be a good idea to keep in mind which one would prove most useful in a given situation memorize as much of the SOP for each department, refreshing on any of the more obscure regulations in my spare time to at least be aware that a violation has occurred (even if I cannot immediately recall which one in particular at that exact moment, in which case have their SOP at the ready for consultation).

  2. You sign on as a low ranking head of staff (I.E. CMO, RD, CE, HOS), and find yourself the only head of staff on at that moment. Please tell us what you would do next. Honestly, it would depend on what's going on at the moment. In the event that something presents a danger to all life on the station and I am unable to access a particular department that has what is needed to resolve the problem, I would fax for the appropriate crew to come as quickly as possible to handle the situation while also attempting to keep all available personnel from harm to the best of my abilities, in spite of the fact I may panic if it happens to be a pressing lethal threat. Otherwise for less dangerous and more mundane situations, I would try to resolve any issues that I am allowed to handle while still sending in a fax for those that I am not allowed to give jurisdiction on.

  3. What should you take as Acting Captain? What shouldn't you take? I should take at least one lethal close-quarters and one non-lethal ranged weapon in the event of hostile force coming upon me during any codes above green being in place, but never have the lethal one out in the open unless a code yellow or red has been established for self-defense due to the high value of my position as a target for hostile entities that would focus their efforts on chain of command. What is most important is that I should not over-encumber myself and make sure that I do not put myself at constant risk of danger with having keeping at a safe distance from it and tactical retreat be among my top priorities in the event of life threatening situations whether I've faxed someone of higher ranking head of staff to arrive (when I'm not Director, mind you) or find myself being among the best choice of command for the crew's well-being, while it is nonetheless in my best interest to at least survive  do what I can for the sake of everyone else's safety, or potentially die trying to save them.

  4. What are you allowed to carry? What should you carry? Basically anything that my job requires of me, often found in my locker along with a basic first aid kit in case of isolated emergencies where medical is unavailable, if I am not among that department myself Preferably un-encumbersome body armor, one lethal weapon and one non-lethal ranged weapon (as long as it can fit within a backpack) all for self-defense reasons, with any extras such as a basic first aid kit or personal items being completely optional. I should not be carrying anything that is otherwise publicly inaccessible to the rest of personnel, like a taser from Security, a phoron crystal from Xenobiology, or even Officer Beepsky's stun baton in the event he's been destroyed, unless the situation is unfortunately dire enough to warrant such decision and no one else nearby is able to act in a timely manner. In such instances, I will turn over whatever items I shouldn't be carrying immediately to Security or the nearest functioning security drone when possible after the situation has been resolved, save for truly extraneous circumstances where such things are needed for self-defense or I am the only one capable of handling the problem if severe risk comes to the crew at large as a result of inaction.

Questions for Security Roles:

  1. When do you use your taser? The taser is meant to be used to prevent violence where something a light bop over the head from a de-activated stun baton does not help, such as in self-defense from dangerous hostile entities or to protect myself and/or other crewmembers from potentially armed individuals. Most importantly, it is best used during encounters with people that are charged with moderate and serious crimes, in the event they decide to resist arrest and nothing else would be more appropriate at the time. Use as needed and dictated by SOP, which is for non-lethal engagement (presumably for instances where the victim has to be rendered unconscious when conversation is not an option).

  2. When is the proper time to have your armor and helmet equipped? Standard vests are to be used when the code is green, but more advanced armor and helmets are advised as higher levels of security protocol are required, with both being of absolute necessity in the event there are no heads of staff present to alert the rest of the station of a highly dangerous threat presented that I have become aware of.

  3. How do you start an encounter with someone charged with a minor crime? A moderate one? A serious crime? Minor crimes are to be met with a peaceful and non-threatening demeanor to resolve the situation, with the taser on person just in case it escalates to a moderate crime, but not seen as to avoid the potential that such a sight would cause the victim to panic. Fines are given if appropriate and likely a stern talking to as well if they are repeat offenders, with some exceptions given waives. Moderate crimes are to be approached with caution but still keeping a non-threatening demeanor in the event it can be talked out, with a taser ready in case the issue is met with unavoidable violence, while calling out for additional help when necessary. Serious crimes are likely unable to be resolved through talking (exceptions may arise) and must be handled with extreme care regardless of whether the person who was charged is seemingly peaceful or not, weapons are to be fully armed for hostile instances, while the SOP is to be referenced in all cases when uncertain of how to proceed or if the person is resisting arrest.

  4. You're a security officer who is tasked to arrest someone for something minor, lets say breaking and entering into Science. How should you proceed to arrest them? Once arrested what do you do? This would be one of the exceptions I mentioned earlier where I meant my response would vary. If the order is given from a Head of staff, particularly the Head of Security or Colony Director, then there are no questions asked for the arrest and I would take them to wherever my superior has stated shortly after receiving an explanation, if higher command has not already given one. However, if it turns out the person had broke in to acquire something that was necessary for a given situation where personnel of that department was not available and is not able to arrive on time following a fax, then at best it would likely be met with either a simple fine when appropriate or letting them go entirely after an explanation is given (preferably with a witness giving testament), if I am unaware of their reasoning prior to the arrest and they haven't made any attempts to resist arrest. There are other, far less likely exceptions where I would leave it solely to my own jurisdiction, such as when my superior(s) are suspected by staff of being a greater danger to the crew at large than the person I have arrested and therefore cannot be trusted to give command.

Questions for silicon roles:

  1. You sign on as a borg/AI. The default law is leading to cause damage to the players and you're unaware why. Can you request a law change? Not knowing why the laws I follow are contradictory to the purpose of player well-being is a massive source of panic for me at the end of the day. I would try to assess the situation if I can by asking the crew and any other available borgs and AI before doing anything, and if it happens to be something like an event or an ion storm had struck, then I will try not to question it too much so long as I can follow them without conflict to the server rules when possible. If it is a worst case scenario where nothing can be concluded, then I would definitely request a law change.

  2. Someone manages to get into your upload and uploads a law that could break server rules. What should you do next? I would use Ahelp immediately and give some sort of excuse to stall for time until I get an answer, such as pretending not to see specific people if it's a law that would have me break their character preferences, or following all other laws with higher priority as a result of a glitch or loophole. If it appears that no admins are available and will not be available anytime soon to respond, then expect me to have my character suffer some sort of complete inactivity as it tries to formulate a plan of action that does not result in a violation of the server rules.
