What do you know of their mechanics?: Proteans behave like a mix between current Synthetics and Promethians. They are goo like beings that are made of nanites and a metallic matrix. They have innate resistance to Brute, but a weakness to Burn. They are able to shift on command from a more normal humanoid form to a Protean Blob form. The latter has the ability of going 'stealth by 'Resting' against a surface. Becoming translucent and virtually undetectable as they do. Damage to the Protean is repaired by eating steel sheets, and they cannot maintain a humanoid shape when critically damaged.
What do you know of their lore?: Their lore is being written still, but the general idea of the community paints them as a new generation of synthetics. Bleeding edge that marry nanite tech with Synthetics tech. Possibly even having to be played with some form of cover or secret to their actual identity due to said rarity.
What idea did you have for your character?: Orginally I was going to make an entirely new character for this concept. But one of my existing characters is a full conversion synthetic, her own work as a Nanite Systems Specialist in her own lore, makes her perfect as a 'prototyper' and experimenter. She is already known on Station to have uploaded her mind to borggo chassis to test her own designs.. A Protean body to test in field conditions with Crew is the next evolutionary step.
