What do you know of their mechanics?: They're a lot like synthetics, but can change their prosthetics on the fly and can repair themselves by consuming steel. And either on demand, or upon taking too much damage, they lose shape and turn into a blob. I've heard that their vent crawl ability was taken away and instead they can turn into a hardsuit now.
What do you know of their lore?: They're a being made entirely of nanites, normally only seen in very high tech places due to how expensive it is to make them. Some people go after being one to extend their life.
What idea did you have for your character?: I plan to change my symbiote character mechanical species from promethian to protean as I feel it's a better fit. I also intend to use the protean species for transformation rps with a friend of mine who likes to play with nanites
